Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My ex wife and I were divorced 3 years ago. She got ownership of her car in the settlement (agreed to and stated in divorce decree) I have asked multiple times to have her remove my name from the registration/title and she fails to follow up and complete this even though I have signed all the documentation and given that to her. How can I get my name off of this vehicle? I'm concerned of the legal liabilty should that car be involved in an accident, traffic violations, etc.

You are right to be concerned. What are the specific terms of the settlement regarding the vehicle? Does it say she is to remove your name in a certain time frame? If so, does the settlement say what will happen if she does not comply within that time frame? Maybe you should go back to the lawyer who represented you and ask him/her these questions.
