Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Defamatory statements and rumors are being spread about my minor child by another student who is 18. My child is very active within the school, community and state with various organizations which would ruin her reputation. Can I file a cease and desist on her behalf?

Hello. You may want to file a petition for an order of protection on behalf of your child against this 18 year old. Technically, the 18 year old could be sued for slander depending upon what is being said about your child.
