Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Lawyer fees after judgment

Can an attorney who withdrew from a divorce case (and who never asked for payment) continue to bill his ex-client for fees over and above the judgment amount and expect to be paid these fees?

Re: Lawyer fees after judgment

If the contract entitles him to payment for the work he has done, the answer is yes-so long as the bill reflects reasonable fees for work reasonably related to the services for which the attorney was hired.

I hope this helps,
