Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

My military ex and I split about two months ago after a year long relationship. I asked him to return my class ring after we split, so when he came home about a month ago i reminded him that i would like my ring back and he refuses to return the class ring to me.

I suppose there can be worse things than fighting over a class ring but is it really worth it?? If you gave it as a gift to him, I think it's his.
