Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
I was recently served a bowl of chili at my local Panera restaurant that contained a foreign object. The object was approximately 1/4" thick, a little larger than a quarter and dome shaped. I was told by the manager that this object is a magnet used in their kitchen.
Do I have a legal complaint against Panera?

Possibly, but not one worth pursuing. You have no damages from the incident. The courts are not another lottery system.

Where you injured? A claim for personal injuries will require personal injuries upon which to make a claim. You are not mentioning that you sustained any sort of injuries, and so based on no injuries sustained, you do not appear to have a claim.
If you have sustained injuries, you should contact a personal injury attorney in your area so that a proper claim can be set up.
I hope this helps-
You don't have a claim unless you sustained some sort of "damages." Is this something you could have ingested? Do you eat at Panera regularly? If they have magnets in the kitchen that can fall into food, this sounds to me like a public safety issue that should be addressed to prevent harm to the public. There have been known cases associated with death due to the ingestion of small magnets. We are happy to talk with you.
