Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Stuck with $7000 wedding bill from sisters wedding

I was asked to be maid of honor in my sisters wedding two years ago. We planned the entire wedding together. However she didnt have the funds available at the time to pay for any of this, although she was exspecting a large amount of money later on that year. So I was asked to pay for the entire wedding, the dress itself, the decorations, food, liquor, flower girls dress, ect ect. 120 people were invited, it was to take place at my home, alot of exstensive work was done to my home in preparation for the event. One week before the wedding, she got in an arguement with my dad, and cancelled the entire wedding. I was stuck with everything, including a total cost of $7000+. Can I legally sue her to get my money back ?? Thank You

Depends upon whether your offer to pay was a gift, in which case you're out-of-luck, or a loan, in which case you have a claim against her.
