You MUST hire an attorney immediately to make sure ALL of your interests are fully protected.

It is regrettable that the other attorney on this board has refused to properly answer your question.
In Illinois, Supreme Court Rules require that you be given notification of all court date IF, you have filed an appearance and paid your appearance fee. If you have not filed your appearance with the Court, there are no requirements that you get notification of ANY court date.
If you have insurance:
You must notify your insurance company that you have been sued. Forward the paperwork to them immediately. They are under an obligation to provide you with a defense, free of charge. If you do not cooperate, you will be liable to pay any judgment entered against you.
If you do not have insurance-then you should either hire and attorney to defend you, or do it yourself (not recommended).
I hope this helps,
