Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois

My husband wanted his mother to visit with a residency visa. I was obligated to sign the forms I beleive as a co sponsor. She has only entered the US a few weeks ago & he has left with her and abandoned me. Should I report this? -to whome? What are my obligations/responsibilities to her being here after my signature was in her paperwork?

I looks like you signed up as a co-sponsor on the Affidavit of support, form I-864 and jointly with your husband accepted financial responsibility for your mother-in-law.

Because she is not eligible for Medicare and, I assume, doesn't have a health insurance, if she gets sick and goes to the hospital, it will be your and your husband's responsibility to repay any federal funds in case if she applies for any federal means tested benefits.

You may want to read carefully the fine print to the USCIS form I-864.

Your have a resonsibility to inform the government if YOU move to a new address (in case, they need to send you a bill for a reimbursement for your mother-in-law).
