Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois

I moved to the United States in 2000 (and had a green card since then). In 2004 I was convicted for theft misdemeanor (internal theft at a store) and 2 years probation. Never been arrested before or after this incident. This past Christmas, I got in the US coming from other country and had problems with my green card. The officer gave me a deferred inspection because of my criminal record that could not be obtained at the time. My question is, what can expect is going to happen and what is the most likely outcome of that inspection in my case? Do I need an attorney to be present during that visit? Thank you!

Yes, you should consult an attorney. Did they take away your green card when giving you deferred inspection? You can expect to be referred to Immigration Court.
