Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois
My niece became a US Citizen and later married an immigrant. She filed forms to help him become legal in the US. Once he got his green card and got her pregnant he left her. My niece now lives with her mother and regrets what she did. I believe her ex-husband planned this and is laughing all the way with his green card. I wish there is something that can be done to take away his papers.
Please advice,
Thank you,
Abel

There might be something that she can do. Does he have a conditional green card (valid for the initial "trial" period of 2 years)? If so, then he and his wife (your niece) will need to apply together (joitnly) to remove conditions from his residency.
He might be able to remove conditions without her assistance in some situations. However, usually, a married couple is expected to file jointly and in atimely manner (within 90 days period before his card's expiration date).
