Legal Question in International Law in Illinois
I am the only guardian of my son under US law and the only parent on his US birth certificate. His father is argentine. There is no relationship between my sons father and me and I have reason to believe he could access the argentine court to keep my son in the country if I ever take him to argentina.. is there any way to prevent this and does US law related to guardianship and such hold more strongly since my son is a US citizen only?*
what international laws should I be aware of?

Briefly, I can tell you that the sole custodial parent has a full custody of the child. If a father is not listed as a parent on the birth certificate, it could take some effort to even prove the paternity of this particular child.
Traveling abroad and coming back to USA, a sole custodial parent usually is not required to show any documentation from another parent.
As to your fear of possible parental kidnapping, I can't comment on this, as you didn't provide any specific facts or details.
