Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I have a complaint filed in State Court against my former employer for owing salary and for distributing a defamatory reference letter to prospective employers. There have been several State Court appearances, discovery and iterrogatories.

The defense is making a request to move the case to Federal Court and my lawyer

informs me I have no right to object to this. The complaint against my former employer has no association with the Federal Government whatsoever.

Can the defense move this case to Federal Court without a legitmate reason ?

Thanks.

If you have made claims that are grounded in federal law, your employer is entitled to remove the action to federal court. What bothers me about your post is that you obviously do not trust your attorney. You should have an honest conversation with your attorney and determine if this is the right lawyer for you.
