Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I have been with my current employer since april 2010. My husband is in the military, I do not meet the 12 month rule for fmla. I have never taken a day off from that place. I recently found out I have to take my husband to the airport to report back to duty after his leave on january 2nd 2011. I was previously told by my employer if I ever call in sick they will fire me. And my time off request to take my husband to report for duty has been denied. Do I have any rights to time off?

From what you've written, you don't appear to have any rights to leave by law. To qualify under Illinois and federal law youj need to have worked for the employer for at least 12 months AND 1250 hours. However, you should speak to your boss and explain your situation. It seems unreasonable that your employer would not allow you a few hours off to take your husband to the airport unless there are absenteeism issues you have not discussed above.
