Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I am a designer drafter that was hired from an assembly prodution position. I have worked at the position for over a year now, but they have not trained me at all. I am now being written up for errors in my work. I have requested training, but was told that I need to demostrate ability before being trained. I have been informed that my job will be on the line if I do not fix this. I am going to talk to HR but want to know where this stands legally

In Illinois an employer can fire you for any reason, no reason, or a made up reason unless the termination violates a contract or law. From what you have described, your employer is not required to provide you with training. If they fire you, however, you should be eligible for unemployment benefits.
