Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I have been employed for the past eleven years in a company that provides services in the youth sports market. I founded and I am President of a successful branch of the company. When my employment began, I entered into an employment agreement which includes a non-compete provision.
For the entire eleven years, I worked from a home office while the company maintained a "main office" about 45 minutes away. Company ownership has now acquired a new, larger office space and will require that all employees work from this main office. This is much, much less desirable option than working from my home office.
If I decide to leave, could I start a new company that would compete directly with my current employer?

You need an attorney experienced with non-competition agreements who can review the current agreement and strategically advise you how to move forward.
