Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Can my employer sue me?

I have worked for a company since 2010. On December 5, 2010 that company was sold to a new owner. At that time he asked us what we were working, what our schedule was. Instead of saying I am working now 3 days a week, I said I have always worked 3 days a week. He found old schedules from the old owners in which there were days I did not work 3 days. He has placed me on suspension without pay for two weeks until I can provide him the documents from the old employer to prove I worked 3 days a week. He said if I do not send them I will be fired and he will sue me for lying to him to bully him into scheduling for 3 days a week. I have worked for him for 4 months and this just came up because he reduced my hours and I asked why?

If your employer fires you under the circumstances you describe, you will likely be able to collect unemployment benefits. The threatened "suit" is laughable and reflects no legal cause of action that I am aware of.
