Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
Hello,
I received a written job offer. The job offer was contingent based on a successful background check and drug (urinalysis) within 24-48 hrs of acceptance of the job offer. I called to schedule my drug screening with their 3rd party affiliate the same day I received the offer and I was scheduled outside of the required timeframe because of the holiday weekend. I asked the scheduler is that timeframe okay since I will be outside of the terms and she stated yes, they are closed over the weekend and Monday due to the holiday. HR called me and questioned the timeframe the drug test was completed, and now I am waiting for a answer as to if I get to start the new job or the job offer in null, this is all based on someone's negligence in scheduling my drug screening. PLEASE HELP!!

A job offer is just that--an offer. It is not a contract. Your best bet is to plead with the employer to make an exception given the holiday. Although I am sure you're upset, be nice and cooperative if you want the job.
