Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Hello,

I want to know if it is worth filing a lawsuit against my employer for not enforcing the zero tolerance policy they have in place for a compliant I filed against a co-worker for racist remarks and spreading hurtful rumors about my family and me at the workplace.

I work for a major transporation, logistics company know worldwide. I am having a very hard time concentrating on my work and my morale is sooooo low that I am thinking of leaving.

Thank-you,

Allegra

Prior to filing a lawsuit, you must file a charge of discrimination with either the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC-www.eeoc.gov) or the Illinois Dept. of Human Rights (IDHR). You have up to 300 days to file with EEOC and 180 days to file with IDHR from the last discriminatory act. You should contact an attorney to help you with this.
