Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
In Illinois, can I terminate an independent contractor agreemennt by email? also, if I give 30 days notice of the agreement terminating, that doesn't mean I have to give them work during those 30 days does it? (key words are "have to")

Both questions cannot be answered without reviewing the independent contractor agreement.

The answer to your question is within the four corners of the agreement. It's very difficult to give you advice without reviewing the agreement. Look at the section addressing termination of the agreement.
