Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
Can you get your job back if you feel you were harrassed and got fired because your boss didn't like you?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Too little information to tell, but if your boss was just a supervisor and there are other jobs under other supervisors you might qualify for, you might want to start w/ the HR department. If not, you may qualify for unemployment benefits and/or you might try making a complaint to the EEO office, and if they give you a "right to sue" letter you may be able to sue for loss wages, or more. Depending on other factors, such as whether this was a union job where you might have a grievance right, or if the employer had work policies and procedures that included some kind of grievance procedure, you might have addition options. SO without knowing these additional things, there is no clear answer, but you may want to understand that unless there are work contracts, union contracts, policies and procedures that were not followed, in Illinois you can quit or be fired at any time for any reason or no reason.....
