Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
On June 18th, I went to my HR rep. to file a compliant about my director in regards to innapropriate comments which made me feel uncomfortable. Some examples of the comments were, "Don't get all Puerto Rican on me" and "That I would never be a leader in my organization" as well as various other situations. On June 24th, I had my 6 month review and I actually recieved a $2000 bonus for my good work (review was done 60 days prior to my review) but minutes after giving me my review I was handed a performance plan stating all the mistakes that I had made from March until June. I was shocked because it was the first that I had heard of the severity of these items (and there were many innacuracies in the statements). When I asked why the instances were never brought up in weekly one-on-one meetings with my director I was brushed off. The environment since I went to HR has been extremely stressful to work in. I told my boss that day in the review that I was 4 months pregnant...she commented, "I knew something was going on". Since then I have been micromanaged, given nothing but negative feedback about performance. And to make things worse, my director told me I was having my annual review (even if it was late it was being processed but would be retroactive back to my yr anniv date). On the day of my review, I was written up instead and was told that I had 90 days to improve or I would be terminated (approximately on the day that I would be having a scheduled C-section). I am under extreme stress and have had anxiety attacks *and dread going to work). I have evidence through emails and documents showing my performance is anything but what is in the performance review clearly showing the opposite of claims that I am "slow and non-responsive" , "lacking attention to detail", and have an "attitude-shift". I work with students and I have gotten emails from the same boss congratulating me on increasing retention to 90% (a 10% increase from last year plus numerous emails from students praising my efficiency and excellent-customer service. I feel like nothing I do in this next 90 days can prevent me from getting fired on the day I go to take leave. Please HELP. I do not know what to do. I feel as if this is retailation for speaking with HR.

What you describe could be a hostile work environment and retaliation because of your pregnancy.
