Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

This is in regards to a labor question regarding a companys policy that states- "employees are to be in their scheduled work areas at the beginning and end of their shifts".We are required to swipe in/out and there is many time clocks throughout the business property. The company is trying to tell employees that the policy says they must swipe in/out of their assigned work areas even though the policy states what i told you-(they are to be present in their work areas, doesnot state swiping in/out of them) .The company has chosen to pick randomly or discriminately as to how they choose to reprimand/warn for not swiping in/out of their work areas. They have a daily list and choose to ignore many people on it and not others-even though all individuals are covered by this policy. We also have union "representation" whom also chooses and picks whom they will represent properly and not. There are also people who swipe in/out of their asssigned work areas but arenot present for the beginning/end of their shifts which is the actual policy, these people arenot talked to at all). The company is trying to enforce what isnot correctly stated by their policy and the union chooses to mis-represent some of it's members?Any legal recourse? thanx, location illinois.

You mentioned a union. Are you a non-supervisory employee covered by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) witrh the union? If so, you must follow the procedures outlined in the CBA for resolving disputes.
