Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
What is the legal definition of electronic mail? I am being accused of violating an electronic use agreement at work under the "Use of Electronic Mail Communication" section for something I posted on a classroom web site. (The web site is not through the District, it is through freewebs.com, and it's creation was approved by my administrator.) I am being told that a web site posting is covered under "electronic mail." Is that true, or is email limited to what is normally thought of as an email - a message sent directly from one person to another person/persons? The policy is dated 2004 and has not been updated.

This is an ever-evolving area and it looks like your employer's policies have not kept pace with the fast-changing landscape of social media etc. Please speak to experienced counsel,
