Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Pay Grade Assignment

My company had hired Hay Group to evaluate the entire organizations' positions and to assign pay grade for the employees.

When the results came in the Hay Group has categorized me in the same group with people without science degree and with science degree much lower than mine. I have Ph.D. in chemistry . My company is now using this pay group assignment as a guide for compensation feeling fully justified. I complained to no avail. I've been told to either take it or leave it.

My question is this, can I sue Hay Group for being reckless in this grade assignment, and for downgrading me as a professional. Hay Group was given the full information about my professional achievements, and yet they had not provided any disclaimers or exceptions to the grading system. They had placed me at least two to three grades below where I belong. The Hay Group has given y company additional weapons to downgrade and insult me even more professionaly. Please let me know if I can sue Hay Group for this.

Re: Pay Grade Assignment

Very doubtful - you lack privity, although that's not always needed - you probably would have to fight this out with your company - but a lot more info would be needed to tell you for sure.
