Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I was promoted about a year and a half ago and was given a raise. I spoke to the assistant manager about my decision to demote myself from my current position and she threatens to take back my raise. Is that legal?

Weren't you given a raise to perform a specific job which you now no longer want? Your employer is well within their rights to reduce your pay in this instance. Generally, however, and employer can reduce your pay for no reason or any reason so long as such reduction does not violate a written agreement, CBA, or anti-discriminaiton laws.
