Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I have a question regarding being terminated from my job because I was given a pre employment background check that later came back with misdemeanors of battery and criminal damage to property which in actuality I have never been arrested in my life. They ran a name search background check only and not a fingerprint with that being said I have a very common name and it is surely someone else or might I have a stolen identy? And they wont give my job back because they say my position has been filled, so do I have a legal case against my former employer?

How long had you worked for them before they terminated you? You may have a cause of action against both the employer a nd outside company that was used to conduct the background check.
