PLEASE READ - NEED ADVICE HELP!!! Lost job...have ???

I was an Business Development Mrg for large subprime firm who went under. They laid us off for 2 weeks without pay & told us we may be recalled in 2 weeks. I was on maternity leave 2 months before all of this happened so naturally I didn't have any volume during that time and when I left I was told by my boss I could work from home some days until I could find someone to watch my baby. Well now I was informed that only those who had high volume during the last few months and those who could work 40 hrs (which I can) would be asked back. So basically, I am being laid off. I feel as if somehow this is wrong & almost feel as if I am being penalized for being on maternity leave those months(which I have no control over and since when did becoming a mother become an issue). I have endured so much stress because of this situation. The last paycheck I rec'd was on Dec 15th and will not be paid on the 15th as I usually was (as well as my health ins cancells on the 15th of Jan). I have a daughter who still needs shots! I am very stressed and feel as if I did something wrong by having a baby! Help -- is there anything I can do? They tell me I don't even get a severence pay!

Hello. I can understand you fears. In my opinion you have been treated

unfairly at a time when it really hurts. The fact that you were on maternity leave when all of this began, really makes me suspicious. You have the option of filing a lawsuit for wrongful discharge. I am outraged that you were not offered

severance pay. I will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail.
