Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I was recently let go from the company I worked at for 18 years. They have not given me any severance. About 6 months ago, they let another employee go who only worked there for 6 months, but gave her a small severance. Do I have a case to pursue?

Illinois employers are not required to give anyone severance. However, if they make a practice of giving severance to employees, they may have created a "benefit" to which they will be required to adhere.
