Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I was recruited by an employment agency with an offer of a better job than the one I had. They were urgent in getting me placed because of my expierence. The offer was better pay, better hours, and a 6 month contract than permanent hire. At that time, I was working for another temp agency. My contract had expired and there was no word if I would be hired. I accepted the offer, signed the contract they prepared, quit the job I had, and reported to the new job. After 1 week of work, I learned that the position was only available for 1 week to cover for an employee on vacation. I asked if they informed the agency of that situation, and was told they had. Had I not been misled, I would never accepted the offer. Now I am stuck without any job. What are my rights, and do I have any legal recourse?

If you had a contract providing that you were to be employed for six months then you have a cause of action for breach of contract.
