Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I have been a union member of UFCW 881 for over 20 years. Recent news articles in the Chicagoland area have been about Walmart wanting to build in the City of Chicago and UFCW fighting the issue over Walmart being non-union. In the most recent newsletter from the union, the president, Ron Powell, has stated that he has "negotiated" with Walmart for a larger than normal starting wage for their new hires. Let's see, Jewel stores, which he represents have a starting wage $0.55 lower than Walmart, UFCW 881 has been without a contract for over 8 months, he says he's still working on it, yet he has time to negotiate for Walmart - whom 881 does not represent. Also, 881 is always picketing Walmarts because they are non-union, guess what, Osco's in Will County are non-union. Local 881 cannot even unionize their own, but have time to chase after and negotiate for Walmart. I feel that the money I pay as a member is not being put to its proper use and the union is not representing me - the member. Is there any recourse as to hold 881 accountable for their actions?

If enough of your co-workers feel similarly you can demand that the NLRB hod a recall election. You can also choose to not vote for this union next time around.
