Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
My wife is an RN and is being investigated and will possibly be terminated. Here's the details. There was a police officer waiting for his prisoner patient to come out of surgery. He had the handcuffs laying on the nurses desk. My wife (a recovery nurse) asked if she could try them on (as a joke). the officer put them on and another nurse took pictures with the handcuffs on. As a joke my wife posted the pictures on facebook with handcuffs on. She posted: off my bucket list, no bail, no parole.
Her employer saw the pictures on facebook, made her take them down, and is now investigating the incident. What are her rights?

Your wife needs a qualified employment attorney--yesterday. This is not a light-hearted matter that will go away or where the outcome will go well for your wife without appropriate representation. Healthcare settings in particular (in my experience) take a hard-nosed approach toward employee workplace behavior. Even though your wife thought it was a joke, her employer obviously disagrees. Many of us employment attorneys will provide an initial "consultation" by email or phone. Time is of the essence.
