Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I have worked for a small company (under 50 people) in Chicago for 17 mos. It became necessary last week for me to enter a self-abuse therapy out-patient hospital program that requires my attendance for 5 days per week from 8:00am until 3:00pm for at least 4 weeks of treatment.. My employer received the necessary paperwork from the hospital and I have been put on Short - Term Disability. I called to discuss my absence and return after treatment with my boss, the owner of the company. He asked alot of questions regarding the type of treatment and many personal details, including asking me if he could tell the rest of the staff. Now, 1 week later he called me and said that...; they have decided to terminate my employment; but will continue to cover the STD and possibly will consider putting together a severance package. Is termination legal?

Your termination could be in violation of the ADA. You should speak with counsel experienced in ADA law.
