Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
My dad recently passed away. He left behind 2 apartment buildings of which 6 siblings have equal rights to. 3 of the siblings decided they want to evict me. I have been living in one of the apartments. Dad designated me property manager about 6 years ago and we agreed I would not pay remt, instead I would help out with some stuff around the buildings which I have done. After he passed the 3 siblings took away all the keys and told me I would not be property manager any longer. Then they sent me a letter asking for rent and deposit of $1000, and consequently an eviction notice. Can they evict me?

Once an administator has been appointed by the probate court, that person can issue a notice to terminate tenancy and decide rent amounts on behalf of your father's estate.
