Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
Is it illegal for a landlord to remove a tenants pet without prior notice? I have been out of town and someone was looking after my dog for me. I returned to my house today with a note attached to the door saying the landlord had removed the pet.

Absolutely. A pet is generally considered personal property. He cannot come in and take your television, neither can he take your pet. I would suggest asking your landlord to return your dog immediately, and if he refuses, contact the police.
