Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I vacated an apt. and the property management sent me an invoice. They mentioned they replaced carpet throughout the apt. because of a stain and kitchen top counter. They send me a bill of 1330 and they deducted 780 out of my security deposit and now asking me to pay remaining amount 580 ish. When I vacated the apt. it was perfectly spot on clean.
I am not sure why they even replaced carpet throughout the apt. for like 1000$.
Can you tell me a way to get around this.

Show them the pictures you took of the apartment when you moved out or maybe the vacation check-out list you and they signed showing nothing was wrong. You don't have these things? Good luck, maybe you have a witness who can corroborate your story.
