Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

I have a X girl that wont pay on her 1/2 of rent

I was engaged to this woman and we both signed a lease for 1 yr. 50/50 according to the leasing office. Now she wont pay her 1/2 of the rent..if i dont pay the full amount, they will evict me. How can i get her to pay her 1/2 of the rent. I live in a 1 bdr with no option to sublease. My rent is 1000 and without her 500, I wont be able to afford it too much longer. Can she take me to court to have a judge tell me ''she does not live there, therefor she does not have to pay'' or is that lease a legal contract and must be paid.

Any help would be helpful!!

You must clearly look at your lease. Usually, you will have to pay as long as you are living there. You should try talking to the landlord to get out of the lease with his permission or to sublet with his permission. It looks like you might be stuck!

The landlord is entitled to his rent from either or both of you unless the lease says otherwise. If she will not pay then to live there you must. Sounds like you will need to sue her to get her to reimburse you for your half. Love is fickle some times
