Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois

Bill due after paid in advance for services

My husband had some dental work done but the office required us to pay in advance; that the patient would not be able handle payment arrangements after being on medicine. After they had done a few hours worth of xrays both the traditional xrays and newage digital pictures to see the damage and assess a charge that we paid up front and in full. After the services were performed we recieved a bill for a remaining charge that a normal tooth pull turned into an extraction. I feel that after all the xrays and checking of the teeth they should have known if the tooth was going to be worse than thought or at least accounted for it in the billing. Since neither of us really know if that is what they did or is this amount a way of getting back the paid in full discount. I don't agree with the amount due and I feel that they should not charge for something that was already paid in full 2 weeks prior to services to be performed. Am I wrong?

Check with the local denatl association to see if they have a dispute resolution process.
