Can the closeness of the relationship between the deceased parent and the adult child bringing a med mal/wrongful death suit be questioned? What proof of relationship if any would be needed?

Yes it can in order to ascertain the value of damages. Proof can be anything from witness statements, pictures, and films to letters.
