hit by uninsured motorist

My wife and I were involved in a car accident - to make a long story short, we were hit by an uninsured driver (she stopped paying her premiums and her coverage was cancelled). The other driver was given a ticket for failure to reduce speed. My wife (seven months pregnant) spent a week in the hospital and our car had $9000 damage - I have some neck and back pain.

I have uninsured driver insurance, but I don't any idea what to expect over the next several weeks - should I expect some sort of settlement from our own insurance company after the hospital bills are paid? Anybody with any experience in these matters?

Unless you have already been approached by an adjuster from your own company, it is unlikely that the company will voluntarily pay anything to you.
