Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

I was molested between the ages of 5-9 years old. I'm 23 now. The offender was the son of my parents very good friends who also happened to be our next door neighbors. I was often left at their home and babysat by them. While I should have been being watched by his parents, he would molest me and perform sexual acts on me. It finally stopped when we moved. No one in my family has spoken to them in years. My question is, can any legal action(civil suit) be taken against him even though he was only 2-3 years older than me and was a minor? I haven't told anyone about what was done to me when I was a child. I dont know how I could prove this actually happened but I remember like it was yesterday. I have suffered from depression and drug abuse which i believe is a result of being molested.

Your cause of action is not against the perpetrator (tortfeasor) but against his parents who should have been supervising him better. You may have a cause of action against his parent's homeowner's insurance policy for negligent supervision. I would do an in person consult with an attorney. Consult your local bar association for a list of competent attorneys.
