Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Can I sell items dumped on my property that I didn't pay for?

Roofing contractor ordered and delivered shingles before we even had a contract. I declined services, but shingles are still on my lawn for over a week now. They have received a letter from me today saying I will dispose of said shingles myself if they don't pick them up in the next 3 days. Can I legally dispose of these if I did not pay for them and provided an opportunity to have them picked up?

There is clearly more here than meets the eye. Nevertheless, why would you want to invite problems? Lawyers cost money and you might have to hire someone to defend your actions, whether right or wrong. I suggest that you redeliver them to the roofer. I know that you are not obligated to do so, but if you want the shingles removed with the least amount of hassle and to have closure, its the best route to go.

Good luck
