1 Answer from Attorneys
It is impossible to determine how to help you, for several reasons. First, you don't identify where you are -- so no lawyer can tell if he or she is anywhere nearby -- often these things need close proximity.
Second, you don't identify what kind of association -- it would help to know if you're a condo, townhome, cooperative, or other. Because ordinarily your remedy is to vote the bad people out, and if elections are a problem, that's another layer of things the attorney has to think about too.
Third, you're right -- usually attorneys would like to represent the associations/boards because they control the association purse. That doesn't mean that a few unhappy owners can't band together and hire an attorney, or that you can't do so on your own.
And if there's a stalemate among the owners that is forcing the President to take unilateral actions, then the President appears to be taking the right step in calling upon outside counsel to help restore some kind of order.
I suggest reposting with some more information.
