Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Mine and my ex boyfriend's names are on the deed to our house, but only mine is on the mortgage. How can I get my name off of both of those? He is living in the house but all the utilities are in my name as well. Thank you

1. Pay off the mortgage.
2. Sell the house.
The mortgage is a lien telling the world you owe money secured by the house. The lender will not let you off the lien without satisfying the debt. What are you really trying to accomplish? Do you owe more than the house is worth? Or what? Best to see a lawyer.
