Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

when i moved the subdivision had no HOA.Now i suddenly started getting month HOA due bills. Is membership mandatory in illinois. can they foreclose my property for not paying membership dues that i din not volunterily joined

Do you own? The HOA declaration would have had to be recorded prior to your purchase. Did you or your attorney look at this? If not, I don;t believe you can be forced to now pay into the HOA.
