Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Parent died and oil rights passed to children. Received notification from county that taxes are due on mothers portion of the property apparently this is the 3rd year they are due, all other heirs have paid except for mom's heirs so only our portion of the property is to be sold. None of my siblings (7) are willing to pay their portion of tax so can I file a petition or something to get their names off the property. I don't have a problem paying the taxes however I don't think I should pay the taxes and they still receive their portion of the royalties. Thank you for any information you can give me.

"Partition" could separate your share from the others but you need to evaluate what good that does you. Have you considered buying them out through some kind of arrangement? You should definitely see an attorney as there are more prerequisites to partition lawsuits that may not be covered by the facts you're presenting us with here.
