Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
I am renting to own. there is central air. he told me on the day I was giving him first month's rent, that the unit needed charging. I found that the thing isnt even Connected to the furnace! And the unit needs a condenser as well! And there isnt even an a-coil in the furnace to HAVE a central air unit!. I see that as fraud. i would not have rented if I knew that. I have been here for 15 days only. There have been other things but Im a fixer upper person and I did them. But this? There is no attic fan so the upstairs is Horrible. In the contract it states that I inspected the home and Accept it. but clearly, a renter is not checking to see if the copper is attached to the air. All we see is the unit blows air through the vents. and it would take a while for it to blow cold anyhow. WHY would I assume or think to look for a-coils and tubing? I see a Unit outside and the fan is spinning. I took an ac unit from our old home and have the doors open for the kids. Can I leave this house or sue?

Your options depend on what your rental agreement says. There should be provision in your lease for termination and dispute resolution.
