Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
I received a ticket in Michigan and had to leave town on business, so i couldn't make the court date. I never returned to Michigan, and my license is from North Dakota. It's about to expire and I'm moving to Illinois. My license is suspended in Michigan, but not North Dakota, so would my information be put on the National Driver Record? I've read that only the state issuing the license would be able to add you to the NDR, but I'd like some clarification before I go to get my Illinois License. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer, as Michigan has tacked on a $1000 "Driver Responsibility" fee now, because I had another ticket there within the same year. It's ridiculous, and I really don't think I should have to pay them over a thousand dollars for a seat belt ticket.

One of my lawyer friends was famous for the expression that it doesn't have to make sense, its the law. In a sense, your questions doesn't make sense, you having a North Dakota DL. How could MI suspend your license there? Good luck in coming to the Socialist Republic of Illinois. Things get done here, whether you like it or not..................
