Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
revocation question
I need a Texas driver licsene. The problem is that my Illinois DL are revoked due to a dui. I have done an Out of state hearing packet and it was denied. That didn't get me anywhere here. I HAVE a job, but do not have my own transportation back and to work. And it is causing a grat deal of stress. For there is no public transport. I cannot get an occupational licsens in Texas, b/ because of the revoked status of my licsense in Illinois. I was convicted of a DUI back in 2006. I've satisfied my court obligations. I did the recomended drug/alcohol treatment. However, it seems as if nothing is moving here on getting things cleared up, so I can obtain a licsense where I'm at. Springfield has got me categorized as being chemically dependent, which I am not!! This is getting absolutley no where!!...I need help and I need it ASAP. This has been going on for last 2 yrs. Who's to say I cannot get a Texas DL? Is there a way?? something by legal means perhaps?? I can expain my sitution better with a lawyer. One who can turn this matter around, and do what I need, in order to obtain clearence on my Licsense in IL. This is my first dui convition. And since I'm not in Chiago - I just don't know what to do anymore?? Please rep

Re: revocation question
I believe that the problem you are experiencing is due to the fact that Illinois and Texas are Interstate Compact members. I'm not a Texas lawyer, so I can't give you advice as to what to do from there. A starting point, perhaps, is your driving record prior to your DUI arrest, and whether you were represented by an lawyer in the Illinois trial court.
Hope to hear from you soon.
