Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois
I live in Illinois. when I purchased my burial plot (mother just passed away, & my sister & I purchased ajacent plots) I was told that any family member, if cremented, could be added into my plot if I'm already deceased without anyone's permission. This doesn't seem right. How can I make sure that after I'm buried, no one else's remains are being added to my grave?

You can probably write it into your contract or modify your contract if already signed to specify that you do not want anyone else's ashes, family member or not, placed in your gravesite after you pass. I can't be sure without reviewing your contract but I can't imagine that this is something that the cemetery would insist upon against your wishes. Your salesman may have thought that you would consider this possibility a benefit rather than an intrusion. Go back and talk to the cemetery people again and make your wishes known.
