Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

My rights

I am 19y/o my father died in August leaving no will. His wife doesn't answer my calls.I would like to go through my fathers things and take some memories with me. I also have the title to his mobile home that she is living in.Do I have any rights as his daughter to any of his things. Does me having the title mean anything. The title is in his name.

Re: My rights

You may have rights. But not knowing what state your father resided in means I can give you no definative answer. If he died without a will then at least in Illinois you would get a share. If his wife, i assume it is not your mother, will not cooperate simply hire a lawyer and open a probate estate. She will come running to get her share but again she may have the right to be the Administrator. But none the less you will get her attention. Actually having the "title" that is the piece of paper showing your father in title gives you no special rights. All the assets will be distributed pursuant to the descent and distribution statute of the state in which your father was a resident.
